The first textual analysis I will look at is a magazine advertisement for the second album by the artist Mika, The Boy Who Knew Too Much was the second album by the British artist and was released in the late period of 2009. This advert much like the La Roux advert, uses the artwork featured on the front of the album with in advert, this means the audience again will easily identify the artist with the use of this. The advert as a whole conveys the genre of the music (much like La Roux however a less subtle approach is taken) The use of the bight vibrant colours, signify the genre of pop/up-beat music that has a happy feeling to it is represented with the use of the bright colouring within the graphics of the advert.
As well as the use of the artists name and the albums name of the advert (which are important conventional elements), the advert also features the names of two, previous singles released from the album to help promote it. This will mean that the audience for the album will already be able to identify their liking of the music to album having already listened to or bought the singles, before hand. Furthermore another conventional featured in the advert is the use of the artist image, it follows the flow of the advert graphics wise and becomes part of the whole image.
The area the image is in is a black and white area, this can be seen at either end of the multi-coloured section within the graphics. This draws attention the the artists image and the details of the albums released day and singles. While in the coloured section the artist name is in three-dimensional capital lettering standing directly out to the audience.
